Based on initial studies and excavations and an estimate of about one million tons of the God-e-Kalvari copper mine, it was decided to build the Cupex plant.
The nominal capacity of this line is 400 tons per year, which currently produces with a lower efficiency and with a capacity of 360 tons per year.
The product of this factory is 80% oxide copper powder. Therefore, the required raw materials for this line are oxidized copper soil and its method is based on dissolution and leaching. This method consists of three general steps as follows:
The extracted minerals first reach the appropriate granulation at this stage and the soft soil is separated and ready to enter the next stage. This line can have different designs according to different capacities. Acceptable grain size is maximum 2 inches.
This part is defined according to the grade of the mineral. If dissolved by the leaching tank method, the minerals must be micronized and then dissolved in the tank.
In this part, the material is granulated and must be exposed to a dilute solution of sulfuric acid (at a certain pH) to release its elements (copper). Similar to the previous step, according to the designed method of minerals, the solution is taken. This design uses in the hip leaching method.
In this way: Minerals are spread in the bed of the hip and then they are irrigated with a solution of water and sulfuric acid, and finally the charged solution of copper (PLS) is prepared and transferred to the next stage.
At this stage, the solution prepared in the dissolution stage, under electrowining, enters the electrowining cells under special conditions that have already been provided and its oxidized copper powder is extracted by electric current.
As mentioned before, the grade of the product produced in this method is 80%. In the current factory, according to studies, the current product is melted and converted into 99% grade copper ingots.
